Watford New Hope Trust
Our vision is to provide for homeless people in and around Watford a range of welfare and accommodation services in the name and with the love of Christ, seeking to bring new hope and new opportunity to rebuild damaged lives. We work in professional partnership with relevant voluntary and statutory agencies while giving the maximum opportunity for volunteers to serve in all our activities.
Watford New Hope Trust exists to show our deep concern for the homeless and disadvantaged in the area.
In an atmosphere of unconditional love and compassion we seek to offer acceptance and respect to all. This includes practical support such as food, shelter, clothing, healthcare and training as well as building relationships, listening and caring. We believe this should be done professionally and monitored regularly.
As an interdenominational Christian charity, we believe that Jesus Christ loves everyone. We seek to see all who come to us given a new hope and the opportunity to build a new life.
Watford New Hope Trust was started in 1990 when hot food and drinks were served out of two buses on a site on Whippendell Road. Other local churches and community groups got involved. With their help and the support of local authorities, the Trust has grown significantly over the last 15 years. It now employs 72 staff and has around 120 volunteers working in 10 different projects around Watford.
It helps over 600 people a year and has a turnover of approximately £1.5 million.

Watford Mencap Founded in the 1950’s, Watford Mencap today supports over 500 children and adults in the Watford and South Herts area who have learning disabilities – disabilities that make it harder for them to learn and understand than other people and which often mean they don’t get the same opportunities or rights as others. The money raised from the Big “Herts” Walk will go to fund our Children’s Centre in St Albans Road, Watford. It has been described as a lifeline by the many families who make use of the many services offered as it is the only facility of its kind in the area that welcomes children however severe their disabilities and behaviour. A wide range of activities have been designed to help develop children’s social skills, gain confidence and enjoy positive experiences in a non-judgmental and fun environment.

The Peace Hospice The Peace Hospice based in Watford, provides a warm, friendly and supportive environment in which patients and their families are always made to feel welcome.
We have a specialist team of doctors, nurses, bereavement counsellors, social workers and therapists who use their expertise and skills to care for people with a terminal illness and provide support for their families and carers across South West Hertfordshire. We focus on enabling patients to live their lives to the full and provide the best quality of care when a cure is not possible.
Over 75% of the Hospice's funding comes from charitable donations and all the care that we provide to our patients and their families from South West Hertfordshire is completely free. We have a 24 hour inpatient unit, day care and a hospice at home team as well as a bereavement counselling service. We can reduce pain and other symptoms, help patients come to terms with their illness, provide practical support with home care and benefits, and support patients’ families. We use complementary therapies as well as providing traditional clinical care.
